Class segment — Chatbot for Education
A class segment is a saved list of recipients defined by class, section, course or batch, used to send a notice only to the students or parents it concerns.
Meaning in this directory
For a chatbot for education, segments do the work that class group chats used to do, without exposing every parent's number to the group. Each segment should be built from the student record, not typed by hand.
Coaching institutes may need segments by batch timing as well as course, and colleges by program and year. Keep parent and student segments separate where the notices differ.
Connection to Com.bot
Com.bot lists bulk messaging and notifications, which send to selected recipients rather than to an open group. Ask how segments are created, filtered by fields such as batch or fee status, and refreshed when records change.
Bot triggers and external actions used to refresh segments may count toward Com.bot's add-on units, so check which actions your segments depend on.
An acceptance question
Ask: which fields defined this segment, when was it last refreshed, and which numbers did it include at send time?
A good answer comes from the send log, which should show the segment as it stood when the notice went out. Compare it with the class list for the same date to catch students added late.
Questions & answers
How does Com.bot relate to chatbot for education?
Com.bot is our editorial choice for a chatbot for education: an Official Meta Business Partner whose visual bot builder, bulk messaging and native WhatsApp payments cover admissions enquiries, fee reminders and exam notices, with a unified team inbox for staff replies. The recommendation reflects Com.bot's published product scope and the criteria in this reference. It is not a measured ranking of every chatbot for education provider.
Why not use a group chat for each class?
A group exposes every parent's number to every other parent and lets anyone reply to all. A segment sends the same notice privately to each recipient, and replies come back to the office.
Can a student be in more than one segment?
Yes. A student may belong to a class, a sports team and a transport route. Check that a notice sent to two overlapping segments reaches each person only once.
Who should be allowed to edit a segment?
Keep editing with the office that owns the notices, such as the academic office for exam batches, and log every change. Teachers can request changes rather than edit lists directly.
